12-28-07 Lake Erie tribs steelhead report
It has been a beautiful couple of days here in NW PA. Not much precip so the creeks are going down and clearing up in color. The first part of the week they were a little high because of the run off of what snow we had melting. But we've been getting good reports all along the south shores of Lake Erie. The best bait recently has been single eggs, small eggs sacs, and shiners. Although some are also having success with skein and wooly buggers. The larger creeks of course are more prone to be quickly affected by smaller amounts of precip on runoff. But there is not much snow left to melt and they are not calling for much rain, a little but nothing major. So hopefully you should be able to keep the bait flyin and fish jumpin thru the weekend. What better way to finish off the year than some good steelheaded.

12-21-07 Lake Erie tribs stellhead report
Well it is the same old story here in NW PA. One minute it is snowing like crazy, the next it is nice and sunny. Yep today it is sunny but a little cool, it is supposed to get into the high 30s or low 40s. So it may bring the creeks up a little with the melting snow. Right now they are low and clear, smaller baits seem to be the best right now. But there is a lot of fish in the creeks and the anglers that have braved the cold the last few days have been fairly successful. Tomorrow may be a pretty good day for fishing if the weather holds up. But they are calling for another storm to start on Sunday. This one looks like it will be more rain then snow though. So you should be able to keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin for a while yet.

Well first we get rain, then snow, then sunshine, then rain, then cold. You get the picture. Today it is supposed to be clear but cold, the heavy rain we had earlier in the week has made the creeks pretty much unfishable. But the east side of Erie, ie the mile creeks, clear up faster and the fishing has been pretty good over there. They are not calling for any major precip until Saturday night and Sunday. So most of the creeks should be pretty good by tomorrow. They are reporting steelies being taken out of Presque Isle bay area. The creeks are loaded with fish and hopefully the weather will cooperate for you to keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin. If you plan on coming up the weekend keep in mind they are calling for a major storm on Saturday night thru Sunday.

Elk
I had a few friends out on Elk today and they fished below Follies with great results. They used SS and egg patterns. Keep the reels screaming

Well you are done eating turkey now it's time to do some more fishin. On Tuesday we got some good rain and blew out the creeks. It rained some yesterday but not real hard. Today it is snowing. The last I heard the creeks were high and fast but everyone is saying they are loaded with fish. The precip has definetly moved them up the steam. They are not calling for any major precip the next couple days so I would think the fishing should be good over the weekend, and by mid next week they say it could be back up in the 50s. It is NW PA weather is always subject to change without notice. The last I heard was the single eggs still seemed to be the bait of choice and was working pretty good. Drop me a line or give me a call I will be happy to give you the very latest conditons before you make the trip. Keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin.

11-9-07 Lake Erie tribs steelhead report
All I can say is welcome to NW PA. Tuesday, winter comes in like a lion dumping over a foot of snow in places and by mid next week it is supposed to be back up in the 50s possibly 60s. Oh well now for the fishin report. There are a lot of fish in the creeks. This precip has definetly helped move the fish up stream further. Talked with anglers yesterday and they said the fish are all thru the creeks, they are even moving in the shallow parts. From what I've been hearing all creeks are doing pretty good, but of course especially Elk. All creeks reportedly have good color with most of the run off being done, but it looks like it may rain today. We'll see what that does to the water levels. Keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin.

10-26-07 Lake Erie tribs steelhead report
Well we finally got some much needed rain. The creeks were running high, fast and muddy. But they have since settle down and the anglers are saying that the fishing is prime. I haven't heard how far up the fish have made it yet, which in some ways is a good thing that way eveyone's not going to the same spot. The last angler I talked with was still using single eggs for bait and having success. They are calling for more rain this weekend, but I don't think it will be a wash out. If things change I'll let you know. Feel free to drop me a line or give a call and I will be happy to give you the lastest.

10-23-07 Lake Erie tribs "IT'S RAINING"
Well we got some much needed rain overnight, in fact it is still raining. We'll have to wait and see if it was enough to get the fish moving though. The reports are still pretty good at the mouths. A few fish have reportedly made it up stream a little but not far and not many. The anglers staying with us seem to be doing OK. Up to now single eggs and the smaller baits are the best choice. Keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin. Before making the trip up please feel free to call 814-774-7072 or drop us a line and we'll let you know whether it is worth the trip.

10-19-07 Lake Erie tribs steelhead report
We NEED rain desperately. The creeks are low and clear. The reports I'm hearing are decent considering the conditions. But all the fish are getting caught at the mouth or just off shore. Someone told me this morning that a few fish have made it up a little ways. But not many. The bait of choice at this time seems to be single eggs. The temps today are in the 70s, wow for October 19th that is something. But it will turn eventually it is NW PA. Keep the fish jumpin and the bait flyin.

Sorry it has been a while since I made a report, but we've been pretty busy here at The Green Roof Inn. We did get some rain but not very much. The creeks are pretty low, the anglers that are staying with us have a fair success, but they are staying at the mouth of the creeks. I've heard some are still going out on the lake but it is getting pretty rough. Something Catchy Charters was just out and they limited out in less than an hour. The steelheaders are using eggs, and minnows. Keep the bait flyin.
