CraigIMG 9521Generally speaking it was a good to excellent fishing day regardless of where you were fishing. The cold cloudy morning gave way to a sunny afternoon. That sunshine gave the water temperature a boost and it improved the PM bite. Fish were hitting at sundown. It should be good night-fishing if that is your thing.

Walnut is too clear and low and Elk is getting near that type of flow too. The lake calmed down, but the water is just too dirty.

A run of fresh fish entered Elk Creek on Friday afternoon, but they must have moved upstream. Today the majority of steelhead caught on lower Elk were older fish.

Jigs, pink and chartreuse egg sacs and single eggs caught fish.

Tomorrow’s weather forecast - High 47 -Partly cloudy skies during the morning hours will become overcast in the afternoon. Winds S at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.

If the lake settles down, TR could be an option.
