Returned to Elk Creek at 2 PM after lunch and tying up some pink sacs. I anticipated that the lake would calm down and I could get a few hours of bag-chair time. Actually I got 20 minutes before the surf started to pound once again, but that was enough time to see a few steelhead attempt to run into Elk Creek, catch one steelhead and video my neighbor catch one too.
The video includes a morning fish landed at Walnut Creek and the Elk Creek shots. Go to full screen and look closely at the beginning to see the steelhead making repeated attempts to enter Elk Creek. Paul’s fish landing runs a little long because he was using 4# and really wanted to land, photo and return that steelhead.
Landing my fish missed the cut – forgot to hit record. As Forrest Gump says, “it happens”.
The video, at least, shows today’s fishing conditions so you can make a sound trip planning decision.
