After days of high temperatures and clear skies, a weather front is finally approaching the Erie area. Rain and a 20 degree drop in air temperature will go a long way to making it feel more like steelhead season.
Fishing pressure was heavy today and expected to get more intense over the holiday weekend. Be prepared to share fishing space.
Steelhead are along the shoreline and waiting for an opportunity to enter the tributaries. Some have made it and can be found in most deep holding water north of Route 20. Since the water is low and clear all fish you find will be pressured and reluctant to bite.
Lures caught most of the fish today, but egg sacs and PB did some damage as well.
Here is a short video of steelhead attempting run upstream.
